Is the universe expanding? Why did you say so?

 

Universe is expanding.

Hubble noted that lights from distant galaxies is red-shifted. That means, spectrum of light shifts more towards red region which has higher wavelength.

According to doppler effect, this denotes that observer and source are moving away from each other.

Hence universe is expanding.
